As the personal teacher of Luciano Pavarotti, Mirella Freni and Ruggero Raimondi, Leone Magiera is recognised as the living history of international opera.
Among his many renowned students are, more recently, Carmela Remigio, Fabio Sartori and Mariangela Sicilia.
With Luciano Pavarotti, whom he had mentored from the very beginning, he performed in over a thousand theatre evenings, from his debut in La Bohème in 1961 to his final performance at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
Leone Magiera’s artistic personality is undoubtedly one of the most original and multifaceted in Italian and international musical life in recent decades.
In the final years of his career, he returned to solo piano performance – the field in which he had begun his career – demonstrating extraordinary virtuosity and musicality.
